Classes and Ensembles
We are now enrolling in all classes and ensembles!
Seattle Percussion Works classes are organized by age group. Students are welcome to join at any time. Click on the link below each class to learn more.
"What's the difference between a class and an ensemble?" Our classes use a curriculum that focuses on technique, musicality, and common grooves. Ensembles are strictly performance-based. Classes meet to learn, and ensembles meet to rehearse, but both will have the opportunity to perform.
A percussion class designed for 3rd-5th graders. This is the perfect class to introduce ensemble skills, music reading, and percussion to your child. Students will have the opportunity to play in a variety of instruments including well-known and accessible options like boom-whackers, deskbells, bucket drums, and marimbas!
Intermediate Percussion Ensemble
This class takes middle schoolers through a variety of percussion idioms. Students have the opportunity to play in a marching drumline, hand drumming ensembles, and orchestral percussion ensembles! With our studies centering on ensemble playing, music reading, and refining our percussion technique, this class is the perfect precursor to our Youth Percussion Ensemble program.
This performance-based ensemble focuses solely on developing the performing percussionist. Currently available to all interested high school percussionists, this soon-to-be audition-based ensemble will encourage our performers to develop the highest quality performance in a percussion ensemble setting.
Adult Hand Drumming
Just as the title says, this a hand drumming class for adults! Whether you're just starting or you want to hone your current skills, this class weaves technical studies into engaging ensemble grooves with a progressive curriculum that pushes the bar higher at each and every class.
Adult Drumstick Technique
This class tackles the finer details of drumstick technique. We'll cover the basics and them some with exercises and grooves that enable players of any level to improve their skills.
