Beat Keepers

Our Beat Keepers play mallet instruments, bucket drums, hand drums, and more! Our Beat Keepers learn the fundamentals of group percussion playing, music reading, and other skills that will set them up for our middle school classes and ensembles.

Skills gained:

  • Learn the etiquette and discipline needed to be a contributing member in a group music environment.

  • Developing a steady beat

  • Identifying variations in sound color, rhythm, melody, harmony

  • Understanding how to play and quarter and eighth notes.

  • Introduction to drumstick, hand, mallet, and shaker techniques

  • Learning how movement can inform sound production

Music and Activities:

We use the ever-popular Orff instruments, kid-sized hand drums, and other recognizable instruments alongside our games and exercises to create a progressive curriculum that's fun and engaging. Each of our classes follows the same structure so our students can build a sense of familiarity and ownership over the class flow.

Open to all interested students from 3rd to 5th grade.

We're excited to launch this in April 2024. Detailed schedule coming soon!
