Quarterly Ongoing Programs
Ongoing classes are enrolled one quarter at a time. Tuition is calculated from the number of scheduled classes in that specific quarter.
Quarter tuition = ongoing per-class rate × scheduled classes in that quarter.
Scheduled breaks are excluded from the class count. Because quarters contain different numbers of teaching weeks, quarterly totals may vary.

Want to make music without committing to a full quarter? Drop-in classes offer a flexible, self-contained class experience. Every visit must be reserved in advance; Seattle Percussion Works is appointment-only and cannot accommodate walk-ins.

Private Lessons
Private percussion lessons are available in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute appointments. Before a trial lesson, we will email about the student’s musical background, interests, and goals so we can recommend the right teacher and lesson length.

Trial Lesson Process
Book the Studio Visit / Trial Lesson through the Make Music Studio Marketplace. SPW will follow up about background, goals, placement, and next steps.

Ensembles
Your First Class Free
Every ongoing SPW program offers one free trial per participant, per program. Trials must be reserved in advance; we are an appointment-only school and cannot accept walk-ins.
​
Sound Explorers and Beat Keepers trials may be participatory or a non-participatory observation. If your student would rather watch first, let us know when you request the visit.

Drop-In and Drum can be used as a free trial.

Booking-charge explanation
The scheduling system may display the standard class price while you reserve a trial. Eligible trials are not charged. SPW will remove the class charge and confirm the adjustment by email.
If a trial is missed or cancelled, we will reach out to help schedule another opportunity.

SPW confirms the appointment, placement information, and removal of the standard booking charge for an eligible trial.

Create or finish the participant profile in Make Music Studio.

After the trial, SPW follows up about enrollment, tuition, payment options, and the best ongoing or flexible format.
How Quarterly Enrollment Works
The school year contains three class quarters followed by a separate Summer Session. Families enroll one quarter at a time. Registration does not renew automatically, and students are not required to continue into the next quarter.

Current students receive priority registration through a payment request up to two weeks before the next quarter. Payment is due one week before the quarter begins. After the priority window, unconfirmed spaces may be offered to new students.
​
Tuition reflects the exact number of scheduled classes in that quarter. Scheduled studio breaks are accounted for.
​
Mid-quarter enrollment
New ongoing enrollment normally pauses during the Showcase preparation period. After the Showcase, a new student may join at the ongoing per-class rate for the remaining classes or through an appropriate package, depending on availability.

Changing class times
Students may transfer to an adjacent class at the same level when space is available. Email SPW to arrange the change.​
Payment plans
Payment plans are available by request. Contact SPW before the due date so we can create an arrangement that works for the family and the studio.
Multiple Programs and Payment Support
Students enrolled in both private lessons and a group class receive 10% off each program payment.

We offer customized multi-program or family arrangements. Because every combination is different, we'll work with you to set it up.

We are flexible about how eligible discounts and payment plans are applied. Email us with the programs your household is considering, and we will help develop a clear payment structure.
Absences and make ups
Reporting an absence
Report an absence through your Make Music Studio account or by email.
Group-class makeups
Ongoing group class makeups can be scheduled in advance or retroactively. Families may use an ongoing class of the same week if capacity allows, or a scheduled Drop-In and Drum session.

Group class flex-pack holders are offered one make up per package. Make-ups must be scheduled within 4 class-weeks of the missed session.
​
SPW can schedule the makeup, or the family may reserve it and ask SPW to remove the class charge. Unused makeups expire at the end of the quarter.​
Private-lesson makeups
Ongoing private lesson makeups can take place during the next scheduled make-up week, or any other mutual time.
​
Private lessons cancelled at least 48 hours in advance may be rescheduled. Missed lessons and late cancellations are not eligible for makeups.
Ensemble absences
Missed ensemble rehearsals are not eligible for a makeup or refund.
Payment, Cancellation, and Studio Policies
Registering for a quarterly class covers one quarter only and does not renew automatically. Enrollment is considered confirmed once tuition for the quarter has been paid.

​If a student needs to withdraw before the quarter begins, please contact Seattle Percussion Works as soon as possible. Refunds or credits can be provided notice is received before the quarter begins.
​
Once the quarter has started, tuition is generally non-refundable. Enrolling in class reserves a spot for the full quarter, withdrawing partway through the quarter does not normally release the family from tuition already paid or owed for that quarter.
​
We understand that unexpected situations occur. Refunds are available for families who experience serious illness, displacement, family emergency, and similar circumstances. SPW values communication, and cherishes our community. We'll work with you, just let us know.

Students who do not wish to continue into the following quarter do not need to formally withdraw from that future quarter. Simply decline or do not complete the priority registration offer. Unpaid offers may be released to new students after the registration deadline.
​
If SPW cancels a class because of weather, emergency, teacher absence, or another studio issue, families will receive either an in-studio credit or an appropriate makeup opportunity.
​
Ongoing group classes require at least three registered students. If a class cannot run, SPW will contact affected families about placement, credit, or another available option.
​
Email SPW to request a class transfer. Transfers depend on availability in an adjacent class at the same level.
​
SPW provides the instruments and ordinary class materials used at the studio. Students do not need equipment at home unless a program page or teacher states otherwise.
​
Instruments may be borrowed when arranged directly with SPW. Borrowing expectations, return dates, and responsibility for the instrument will be confirmed with the family before it leaves the studio.
Scheduled breaks are already accounted for in quarter tuition. Rescheduled classes and calendar changes are communicated by email and through Make Music Studio.

Most introductory SPW programs do not require previous experience. Ensembles or advanced programs may have placement expectations listed on their program pages.
