Percussion Classes for middle school aged youth.
Service Description
Intermediate Percussion classes are for 6th-8th graders who would like to learn how to play percussion instruments. In these classes, students will learn: • How to play a variety of percussion instruments • How to read music • How to perform in an ensemble, and • How to improvise (jam) in a group setting Group music classes enable students to adopt a sense of personal responsibility as ensemble members by engaging them in contemporary percussion ensemble activities such as drum line, keyboard percussion, orchestral percussion, and hand drumming. Classes recur weekly and are charged monthly. Each class "term" lasts for around 8 weeks. Each term will focus on specific skills and ensemble types as the year progresses. They will be organized in a progressive way that encourages the students to grow as musicians across a variety of instruments while accounting for the various skill levels that may be present in the class.
